Having five kids, living through two teenagers and currently having two that are 16, I'd say the thought is 'I know what I'm going to do with that camera.' And of course, the constant underlying current of how uncool you are.
Hmmm ... I've been privy to that look a few times. Generally somewhere between 7th and 9th grade, LOL.
Kinda looks to me like he's either thinking, "you have got to be the dumbest, most lame person ever," or "get the a-hem out of my face."
"Dude, you haven't got a clue."
Yeah, right Dad. As if you know anything.
Oops! That was a flashback from my own daughters!
At one point I threatened to tape my photo on the ceiling so when they roll their eyes they'll see me up there!
I've seen that look a lot.
Good luck, Mark.
"Dad, instead of spending your whole life in front of that computer, why don't you go get a real job?"
SS
--you nailed the age exactly. 8th grade.
My first thought was a combination of "You are so lame" and "I can't believe you are my father." The latter may take a few more years to fully kick in, though.
I like the idea of putting a picture on the ceiling!
"Can I go back to bed now?"
As a teenager I stayed up all night, reading, musing, watching tv, and slept at weird times during the day.
