Mark Terry, Bestselling Author
April 6, 2010
I hit the bestseller list yesterday. Yup. My e-novel, DANCING IN THE DARK, probably thanks to my blog post on Joe Konrath's blog, hit #42 on the Spy Stories & Tales of Intrigue bestseller list and #78 (today, yesterday it was higher) on the Action & Adventure list.
I suppose it's official, I can call myself a bestseller.
So, how many copies did I sell in the last 24 hours?
Are you sure you want to know?
21
(But actually made it onto the list with 12).
That's kind of an education in and of itself, isn't it?

Hi Mark,
I left a comment over on Joe's blog as well, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your "best selling author" tag. I have been reading Joe's blog for awhile and followed his advice about ebooks. I have now published on Amazon 2 sci-fiction novels and 2 novellas with my co-author Dave Small.
One thing you should definitely do is check out Smashwords. They have a much broader distribution than Amazon. If you follow their style guide rules, your books will go into their premium catalog which gets distributed to a number of other ebook sites.

Hey, 12 a day is nothing to sneeze at! :-) I have a short story, about 3K, that has been selling much less than that for almost ten years now. I've never been paid so much per word in my life, LOL. That's the great thing about ebooks: they keep selling, and selling, and selling...
Congratulations!
Hey, #42 is #42. No matter what you sold only 41 titles sold more. Heck, there's plenty of stuff sitting on my hard drive that would love to find 21 readers in a day. Besides, won't "Bestselling author" look great on the next dust jacket!
Really? Man! It´s still pretty cool to be able to call yourself a Best Selling author. It must provide a good sense of self accomplishment! Congrats!
Clara,
As long as I don't take it too seriously, sure, it's fun.
