I watched it . . . he's pretty close to me in that philosophy (hence I have a kid who is a musician, which is completely impractical . . . and one a budding filmmaker).

What worked particularly well for me is how he ended his talk, about asking for advice from your "older, wiser self." I.e., how are you going to feel about this in a year or toward the end of your life?
Honestly, this is a question I ask myself when it comes to big decisions. But, as I noted on Barry's FB page in response to this talk, sometimes you're so stuck in the muck that you forget to ask (or listen).
