And working on a late-YA called Starcrossed, plus a thriller.

Last great book I read . . . LOVED the Mike Lawson Second Perimeter.

How about two Orloffs in a row?

I just signed with Midnight Ink (a name from the past, I understand), for a mystery called HIDDEN FACETS (I think), set for publication in April 2010 (I think).

Now I've got to finish learning HTML so I can put up my website (www.alanorloff.com).

I just read Pushing Up Daisies by Rosemary Harris. Good book!

Love your blog, Mark!

Erica,
I'm looking forward to reading Magickeepers. I really am. And I bought the Second Perimeter on your recommendation. I'm looking forward to it, but it'll be a couple weeks before I get to it. So many books, so little time. :)

Alan,
Congratulations! Good luck with the website. I'm a website dummy. I just pay someone to do it for me. It ain't cheap, though.

I'll bite.

I'm currently doing NaNoEdMo, a spin-off of the National Novel Writing Month in which you spend the month of March committing 50 hours of editing to a NIP. I'm 30 hours into this process, in the final edit of the latest in my d'Arcy W. Carter mystery series, MURDER MOST MOTHERLY.

Chris,
Your title makes me mumble. All those m's. :)

Yeah, I've thought of changing it, but every time I come up with something different, my beta readers say they like the first title...

It's not a bad title, it's just a bunch of m's.

What is with all these people signing with Midnight Ink? Don't they have anything better to do?

Well, I'm re-reading an 18-book series (for the THIRD time) to re-write a non-fiction essay. Man, I tell you, non-fiction kicks my butt. I pretty much gave up being able to do this essay, but my editor just sort of had no doubt, and I started to believe it, too.

So now I've got an idea that'll work, I think. And the author is guest editor (Laurell K. Hamilton), so it should be a great book. I think it's coming out in December.

For all the time it takes me, I get about a penny an hour, but studying a long series in depth? Priceless. I just have learned so much about writing series, between this essay and the Stephanie Plum one.
