You know haiku, right? 3 lines, 5, 7, 5 syllables. Here's my writing one for today:
Neurotic, that's me.
Pen, ink, paper, computer
Like the air itself.
Here's my writing haiku challenge. Write a haiku about writing, post it here, and I'll select a random winner on December 21st sometime after noon EST to receive a signed copy of either THE DEVIL'S PITCHFORK or DIRTY DEEDS.
I'm looking forward to your haiku.

Striving, grunting, fist raised high,

scribbled on margins, napkins
poems now unfold
brilliance thus denied
red pen executioner
lay waste to the draft
emotion meets form
as ocean meets ebbing earth
salty and shaken
browsing thesaurus

finds short perfect word

You know, I'm not sure how many syllables that is. :)
Hello Mark,
When I wrote it I wasn't sure, so I looked it up. According to Dictionary.com it's "ses·qui·pe·da·li·an" (six syllables). The American Heritage Dictionary says "ses·qui·pe·da·lian" (five), so I decided to go for five syllables. I hope I'm not disqualified!
By the way, I'm from Sweden, so you might want to disqualify me anyway to save some postage.
I'd also like to mention that there's an illustrated version of the haiku at my blog.

Okay, my entry for today:
It's the war of art:
Resistance is so futile;
Determined writing.
*giggle* Can you tell I just leafed through The War of Art? A million people keep mentioning it. Not bad, but if you already sit down and write every day, then it's a little bit of a "duh." I loved his Legend of Baggar Vance, though.
With sleepy scribbles,
I write the bare skeleton,
Tomorrow to flesh.
Santa! Dear Santa!
Give me your secret of time,
I must write, write, write.
